Unknowingly perhaps, most of us have been using MIDlets -our mobile phone's standard Java based programme-to play games. Lucknow born computer science professor-turned-software professional Dr AC Soti has devised special programme that helps people keep track of train timings, details of UPSRTC bus schedules and fares, airline take-off timings from Lucknow, your bank account status and much more. Credit card details too can be accessed using Dr Soti's mobile programme.

“In any RMS programme, users can store information in their mobile rather than on laptop or computer. Thus, they are able to retrieve the information, whenever wherever required,” Dr Soti, founder of ACS Technologies, told HT WE.

The concept, Dr Soti said, is already popular in the West. “Here, we are trying to create the necessary awareness among people,” he added.

Several hardware manufacturers have already launched Java-powered devices in the market. I feel, Nokia and Sony Ericsson are the best. Dr Soti has already developed four powerful products in RMS-Bank Book, Portfolio Manager, Account Book and Cash Book. Bank Book is a 'mobile passbook' that helps store and maintain various transactions made in different accounts by users. Portfolio Manager helps keep track of records of different transactions of shares, etc.

Account Book could be used by traders to maintain their credit/debit status and 'Cash Book' keeps track of daily transactions date-wise.

ACS Technologies has also launched the Mobile/PDA version of IIA (Indian Industries Association) Lucknow Directory. This directory is handy and portable and any person can keep all the vital information of Small and Medium Scale Industries of Lucknow literally on the cell.

“This is very useful for B2B (business to business) and B2C (business to customer) business. Apart from this, copies in a large number are being distributed through GPRS (general packet radio services) and Internet to the other chapter of IIA and various walks of people,” Dr Soti added.

Directories of UP Rowing Association, Small Industries Service Institute, Kanpur, IIA etc too are ready. Dr Soti says he has prepared objective test papers, as well as various developmental schemes of the government.

All one has to do to download these directories either on mobile or computers is visit www. acstechnologies.info or dial 9335910939, 9838423938 to Dr. A. C. Soti.

“There are 18 crore mobile users in the country. Imagine the power of this service,” Dr Soti adds. And those who have used it say that Dr Soti has given rise to a new media: Mobile media!
