The BJP was quick to jump to the Yoga guru’s defence, saying that the Congress was in a habit of attacking anyone who questioned it over black money.

“He is targeting only one political party. But I have only one request from him that whenever he accepts money from his disciples, he should get a proof from donors that the funds received by him are not black money,” Digvijaya Singh said.

Congress MP and SC Commission chief PL Punia went further: “There should be a probe into how Ramdev got so much wealth that he is opening ashrams across the world. He should either continue with his yoga or join politics.”

Reacting to Singh's comments, BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu said, “The Congress has adopted a policy that offence is the best defence. Whenever somebody raises any issue against them, they start attacking that person.”

BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said: “Ramdevji is a health guru and opposition of corruption is necessary to restore the nation’s help. But the Congress gets jittery and hostile as soon as anyone mentions black money.”
