Talking to media persons, here on Monday, Dr Pandey said civic elections were likely to be held within a time frame given by the high court. The Congress party was busy making preparations to register its strong presence in the civic election.
“The important thing during any election is to prepare a strategy to gain faith of the public by launching agitations, movements and protests against civic problems,” he said.
He said the Congress-led UPA Government had done a lot for the overall development of the masses. However, the party could not publicise its work due to lack of workers. He added the Congress party should strengthen party roots in the Hindi belt because the next assembly election would be held here soon.
About power supply, Pandey said he had contacted Union Minister for Energy Sushil Kumar Shinde to intervene into the matter as Varanasi and Mirzapur divisions were experiencing the worst power supply. He added Shinde had looked into the matter and progress was made on the issue. To a query on the reservation issue, he said a serious discussion should be held before implementing the quota system.
