Constables suspended for molesting women

The suspension come hours after residents of Noida's Sector 71 caught the tables for harassing women.

Hours after residents of Noida's Sector 71 caught two drunk constables for harassing women on Sunday night, police took action, suspending them on Monday.

Superintendent of police (city) Saumitra Yadav, said, " An FIR under section 323 and 504 has been registered against the constable Jagpal Singh and Mange Ram. Both have been suspended for being drunk on duty and misbehaving with women."

Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Association, general secretary, Munna Kumar, said, "On Sunday night, two policemen came to a lady's house in D block Sector 71 and forcibly pulled her daughter Neelam and tried to take her along.

When the neighbours intervened, the two policemen assaulted them. The residents caught the two men and locked them up in a room. There was another person with them but he managed to escape."

The constables were handed over to senior officers on the assurance that immediate action will be taken against them."We released them after senior police officers reached the spot. They were taken for medical examination to check if they were drunk and an FIR was lodged at Sector 58 police Station," Kumar said.
