The workers, who started their boycott on Monday, said they would continue their protest till the government took a decision on the payment of salaries.

All the contract workers were appointed during the previous AIADMK regime in the state. Their average wage ranges from Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,600 a month after deductions, they said. The workers said as they were already getting very low pay, they faced hardships due to non-payment of wages.
