Cops nab two co-accused
WHILE A police team was engaged in dramatising encounter with absconding accused Sachin Pahadi in Kaiserbagh, Hazratganj cops arrested Sunny Rawat—-the co-accused present at the scene of crime on February 28, and Sanjay Menon who sheltered Sachin Pahadi after the shootout.
Briefing the mediapersons, SSP Ashutosh Pandey said he engaged Hazratganj police following a tip-off that Sachin’s associates were moving around Hazratganj market. The cops laid a trap and caught two youths near a leading garment store around 12.30 pm.
The youths identified themselves as Sunny Rawat and Sanjay Menon, both of Chhitwapur Pajawa locality in Husainganj.
In the course of interrogation, Sunny Rawat revealed that he came in contact of Sachin when the latter was staying at Sanjay’s rented house in Husainganj.
Sunny, a screen-painter, said that Sachin had lured him for a job and had taken him to Dilip Pur Tower building flat on February 28. Sachin told him that it was latter’s flat. However, Sunny said, he along with Sachin, Pramod and Jai Prakash had beer at the flat in the evening and they all came out of the building around 10 pm. Narrating the shootout incident, Sunny revealed that it was Pramod who had passed lewd remarks at Mehar Bhargava’s daughter-in-law which resulted into a heated exchange between him and the women. As the women were engaged in verbal dual with Pramod, Sachin joined the latter.
Sunny further said as Jai Prakash knew that Sachin was armed, he took the latter away and tried to pacify him saying that the lady was influential and she could cause trouble for them. However, Sachin walked towards Mehar assuring Jai Prakash that he would not create any problems but he was going to apologise to the women.
Sunny revealed that Sachin reached close to Mehar and opened fire on her from point blank range. After shooting at the women while Sachin and Sunny ran towards Shahanajaf Marg Pramod and Jai Prakash sped away on a motorcycle.
Sunny took a rickshaw for his home while Sachin caught a tempo for Sanjay Menon’s house.
On the other hand, Sanjay, elder brother of slain gangster Vijay Menon, revealed that Sachin reached straight to his home and stayed there for two days. Later, Sachin left for another hideout, Sanjay said. Sachin was a close associate of Vijay Menon and was co-accused in two murder cases with him.
SSP Pandey said Sachin used to stay regularly at Sanjay Menon’s house earlier too.
