Cops step up security for Holi

The Gurgaon police have beefed up security in view of Holi on Wednesday.

The Gurgaon police have beefed up security in view of Holi on Wednesday.

The police will be deployed at 25 sensitive areas in Gurgaon.

On Holi, nearly 22 barricades will be set up, 30 PCR vans will be stationed, besides 100 police constables and 40 riders will patrol the city’s roads.

Women police personnel will also be deployed.

Police officials dressed in civil clothes will keep guard at the railway station, Metro stations and bus stand.

Surender Pal Singh, deputy commissioner (west) said, “As many as 200 traffic police constables will be deployed on Holi. A special team has been constituted to check drunk driving. Checks will be carried out at Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh borders and at Sohna and Pataudi.”

The police will keep vigil in areas such as Shivaji Nagar, Shakti Park, Lakshmi Garden, Om Nagar, Ram Nagar, Nae Basti, Arjun Nagar, Madan Puri, Surya Vihar, Sectors 4, 7, 10 and 14, and Dundahera.

Meanwhile, the Haryana health department has also issued special guidelines requesting people to use natural colors and avoid synthetic colours.

People have been advised to cover their body with thick clothing to avoid body contact with colours.

Residents have also been asked to use dry colours instead of wet ones to avoid skin allergy.
