Cops still clueless in kidnapping case
In Dr Kartike Sharma's kidnapping, cops were clueless for more than a week. Now Highway builder Neeraj Agrawal's sensational kidnapping is heading the same way.
In Dr Kartike Sharma's kidnapping, cops were clueless for more than a week. Now Highway builder Neeraj Agrawal's sensational kidnapping is heading the same way.

More than 36 hours after his abduction the Bara and Ghurpur police appeared to be directionless in working on one concrete strategy. All they have done till now is to keep a watch on the in coming calls in the Agrawal household.
Meanwhile, a section of policemen have started pointing their finger of suspicion at the Thokia and Dadua gangs operating in the ravines of Bundelkhand. It's a well known fact that members of these gangs had been making forays in the city since long but the men in uniform in the absence of any intelligence backing had remained unaware of this stark reality.
It was only after the gunning down of Thokia's uncle recently in the Shivkuti area by the STF that cops got to know about their modus operandi. From buying arms and ammunition to identifying their possible targets these gangs had been engaged in several other activities.
And they have their own hideouts also in the city where they spend time but the overburdened cops have no idea of all this, said another policeman who is not in the regular policing.
On the other hand, the Agrawal household seeing no help from the police has taken recourse to prayers.
A 'Mahamritunjay Jap', for the safety and well being of Neeraj was performed today by the family members. A stream of visitors had been pouring in the house ever since the news of kidnapping came to light. The victim's mother and grandmother are both heartbroken and so are the others in the family.
Traders call for Bandh
Rattled with the growing number of incidents with them the traders have decided to observe Allahabad Bandh on November 16. All markets and shops owned by members of the Vaish community will remain closed. There were indications that other traders have also extended their full support to this bandh. They will put black flags atop their houses and shops and wear black bands. A meeting in this context was held at Marwari Dharmshala in the old city near Rambhawan crossing. The meeting was presided over Om Prakash Jaiswal alias Lallu Mercury. Members in this meeting appealed to the general public to observe black day on November 16 in protest against the kidnapping and failure of the police to get Neeraj released from the clutches of the gang. Traders also slammed the cops for not even succeeding in identifying the gang which had abducted Neeraj.
Following a meeting traders will take out a procession and hold a meeting under the historic Neem tree. After this they will move in groups to hand over memoranda to authorities including the DM, SSP, DIG, and IG.
Members of all trading organisations attended this meeting. President Akhil Bhartiya Vaish Ekta Parishad Dr Suman Gupta was also present on this occasion. Others included VHP Kashi Prant president Suresh Rao, Sunil of Kirana Vyapar Mandal, Rajendra Pal of Punjabi Sabha and a number of corporators.
