Court declares Siraj approver

THE COURT of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Ravindra Kumar Singh on Wednesday conceded the prosecution plea to make one of the accused in the fake passport case – Siraj – an approver for it.

Rejecting an application moved by another accused Monica’s advocate under Section 306 (4) CrPC – contesting that all facts and statements provided by Siraj were false and baseless – the court declared
Siraj as approver.

The court maintained that the application moved by Monica’s advocate was premature.Adding that Siraj’s statements – requesting that he be turned into an accused-turned-approver – were duly taken into investigation and found to be correct and true, the court upheld Siraj’s request of being removed from the list of accused.

The next hearing – for recording statements of prosecution witnesses – will be held on February 13.
