Last year, an administrator was appointed by the deputy registrar on the ground that the society was being mismanaged and there were financial irregularities. The society had earlier approached the divisional registrar of societies challenging the appointment of the administrator which was rejected.
The society, through one of its members, Amarjit Singh Nagi challenged the appointment of the administrator, SM Mohite, alleging that he himself is now involved in various financial irregularities. Also, his tenure expired in June this year. As per the Co-operative Societies Act, the tenure of an administrator is six months, which can be extended for another three months.
