Crackdown on wanted antisocials; 377 held

A TOTAL of 377 anti-social elements, against whom arrest warrants had been served by various courts, were arrested in a massive combing and search operation conducted by checking 390 persons of dubious character and past criminal record. The police conducted the drive on Saturday night.

The drive carried out on the directives of Superintendent of Police (SP) Adarsh Katiyar under the leadership of ASP Rajesh Hingankar saw the participation of all CSPs, TIs and police officials. About 78 persons in police records for masked burglary, 58 vehicle thieves, 44 rioters, 36 goons, 89 suspects, 78 parolees and seven dacoits were physically frisked and their daily activities recorded.

Those in regular contact with such elements were also identified and their activities, known source of income and other details recorded.

Of the 377 arrested, 203 were released on bail and of the 174 remaining, 127 were issued arrest warrant and 47 absconding from a long time were issued indefinite arrest warrant.
