Creamy layer unconstitutional: PMK

The constitutional makers did not approve the creamy layer concept, says PMK founder S Ramadoss.

PMK, a constituent of the ruling UPA at the Centre, on Monday termed creamy layer "concept" for reservation to OBCs as unconstitutional.

"There is no mention about the concept in the Constitution. All the leaders who work for social justice should work together to defeat the concept", PMK founder S Ramadoss, whose son Anbumani Ramadoss is the Union Health minister, told reporters in Chennai.

The constitutional makers did not approve the creamy layer concept, he said.

The Supreme Court on April 10 upheld the law providing 27 per cent quota for OBCs in higher educational institutions but excluded the creamy layer from its ambit.
