CRIME BRANCH of Lucknow police arrested on Saturday, a murder accused on the run for over seven years living a lavish life in the city with a changed identity. He was carrying a reward of Rs 2,500 announced by Sitapur police.

About 11 cases, including of heinous crimes, were pending against him.

The accused Noorul, a native of Naitola, Sitapur, was absconding since he shot dead Pramod Srivastava alias Lala in Sitapur in 1999. Noorul too suffered bullet injuries in the shootout. He had come to the KGMU here and got admitted changing his name as Shahnoor. After treatment, Noorul did not go to his native place and started living in a rented house at Faridi Nagar in Chinhat. He was working as a contractor. The crime branch sleuths worked on tip-off and arrested Noorul.
