CS directs steps to prevent bird flu

CHIEF SECRETARY Vijay Singh has directed officials to take precautionary steps for prevention of bird flu in the State. Addressing a meeting of the state level task force committee here at Mantrayala today, Singh directed the concerned departments including Animal Husbandry, Health and Forest (wildlife protection) to take all the precautions in this regard.

CHIEF SECRETARY Vijay Singh has directed officials to take precautionary steps for prevention of bird flu in the State. Addressing a meeting of the state level task force committee here at Mantrayala today, Singh directed the concerned departments including Animal Husbandry, Health and Forest (wildlife protection) to take all the precautions in this regard.

Bird flu enters human body through animals. Cases of bird flu have come to light in China, Indonesia and Thailand over the years.

In the light of these cases the Government of India has directed all the states to be alert. All precautions are being taken in Madhya Pradesh also.

A state level task force headed by the chief secretary has been constituted. The meeting was attended by Principal Chief Conservator, wildlife, PB Gangopadhyaya, Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry Ranjana Choudhary, Secretary, Health, MM Upadhayaya, Home Secretary Ashish Upadhyaya and other senior officers.

Samples for test of bird flu virus can be sent to the high security disease lab at Hataikheda, Bhopal. So far, no case of bird flu virus has come to light anywhere in the country. No vaccine is available against this virus. Research is going on in the world for this, says an official release.
