Dacoits loot passengers in Karbi Anglong

Dacoits hurled a grenade to stop four buses and looted cash and valuables worth over Rupees Seven lakh from the passengers in Hamren area of Karbi Dnglong district in Assam on Wednesday.

In a novel way, a gang of dacoits exploded a grenade at Bogitora between Kampur and Baithalangsu, under Hamren subdivision, as the four vehicless were proceeding from Meghalaya to Doboka in the district, official sources said.

As soon as the buses stopped, the dacoits assaulted the passengers and looted their money, ornaments and other valuables before fleeing away, the sources said.

None was, however, injured in the attack, the sources said adding, a massive search operation was launched to track the miscreants.
