Woman receives serious shock and burns

Another person became victim of high tension cables passing through the Saket Nagar locality under Dhoomanganj Police station on Monday.
Despite series of incidents claiming lives of three persons and injuring several others in past the UPPCL authorities overlooked the problem and took no safety measures in the locality.
Vimla Devi wife of Suresh Kumar Vidyarthi, advocate high court, received severe electricity shock and was flung on the road by the 11000 KV HT line after she inadvertently came in its contact while plucking flowers from a shrub alongside her balcony on Monday morning.
According to the eye witnesses, the moment she came in contact with the HT line a huge spark was caused at the spot and the cable was tripped. The woman was flung on the road from the balcony. She has been admitted to the SRN Hospital with more than 70 percent burns and her condition was stated to be critical.
Saket Nagar residents expressed resentment over the incident and charged UPPCL with endangering their lives. The high tension cables passing through the locality have stretched due to the hot weather and they frequently touch each other causing sparking every now and then, the residents alleged.
"UPPCL authorities have been shirking from their duty and never visited the locality despite several complaints", said Neeraj Agarwal, a resident of the locality. He said that the residents have lodged complaints with the concerned department but the authorities concerned seem to have turned a blind eye towards the problem.
The residents have urged the authorities concerned to make safety provisions in the locality.
