Das supports Bhojpuri language demand

Speaking as the chief guest at a Bhojpuri Mahotsav organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Bhojpuri Samaj, Das said the community’s demand for including the language in the Eighth Schedule was justified. He said he would do his best to see to it that their demand was met, adding Lucknow owed a lot to Bhojpuri people living in the city. “The name which Lucknow has earned would not have been possible without the Bhojpuri community,” he said. He spoke in Bhojpuri intermittently amidst applause. Senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra was honoured with Bhojpuri Ratna on the occasion. Among others present were senior Samajwadi Party leader Rewati Raman Singh, Minister of State Arvind Singh Gope, Congress leaders DP Vora and Jagdambika Pal, and Pal’s wife Snehalata.
