THE BHARAT Sanchar Nigam Ltd will launch its broadband service (DateOne) commercially in Rae Bareli within 15 days, said new telecom district manager Arun Kumar here yesterday.
Talking to newspersons, the 1987-Indian Telecom Services officer, who was posted in Gonda earlier, also said a basic switching centre was being set up in the district to improve mobile phone connectivity. Besides, 4,000 connections would be put on the internal DP annually to improve basic phone services, he added.
He said the number of mobile phone connections in Rae Bareli had gone upto 46,254 and the number of basic phone connections stood at 29,612.
Kumar said, “We are planning to have at least one customer care centre in each tehsil headquarters.”
The TDM said the single- window concept would be implemented in all customer care centres where subscribers could book new connections (basic and mobile) and deposit bills.
Two toll free numbers 1500 and 1095 are being opened. Customers can dial these to seek new connection or other services. A telecom employee will go to the subscriber and get his form filled up. He also said there was a proposal to install 22 more BTS towers in the district which already has 39.
Replying to queries of mediapersons, he said efforts were being made to publish a new telephone directory of Rae Bareli. The last directory was published in 2000.
He further said the revenue collection of Rae Bareli stood at Rs 14 crore and there were arrears worth Rs 1.88 crore.
