Despite never having won a Grammy, British rock legend, David Bowie is to be presented with the 2006 Lifetime Achievement Grammy Awards during a special ceremony on February 7, the Recording Academy announced Tuesday.

The Award is given in recognition of artistes excellence that has had a profound impact on generations of music lovers, and the recipients were chosen by the Recording Academy's National Trustees committee.
Other greats to make it to the honours list include the late king of comedy Richard Pryor, power rock trio Cream, country singer Merle Haggard, bluesman Robert Johnson, opera singer Jessye Norman and pioneering folk quartet the Weavers, reports Eonline!
"Their work exemplifies the highest artistic and technical standards, creating a timeless legacy that has positively affected multiple
generations, and will continue to influence generations to come," the report quoted Recording Academy president Neil Portnow, as saying in a statement.
