IN ORDER to cope with increasing demand for job-oriented courses, the Gorakhpur University administration has decided to introduce 27 courses in various faculties under the self-financing courses from the next academic session. Vice-Chancellor of DDU Gorakhpur University Prof Arun Kumar said classes under the scheme would start in this session and the admission forms could be submitted at the university counter till July 5.

Talking to media persons, here on Monday, Kumar said in this era of globalisation and following the directive of the University Grants Commission, the university authorities have decided to introduce these courses in different departments from the academic year of 2006-07. He said this was the need of the hour.
Kumar said job-oriented courses had been introduced at the postgraduate level in the departments of home science, bio-technology, environmental study, microbiology, computer science and electronics. Besides, students could take admission for MBA, International Business Management, Diploma in Business Processes Outsourcing Management, Masters degree in Journalism and Mass Communication, Diploma in Library Science and other faculties.
Kumar said that university would also introduce various courses in social science and rural development, disaster management, textiles and costume designing, visual communication, tourism and travel management, watershed management, public administration, counsellor and communicative English in different categories.
He said for postgraduate classes, admission would be the basis of merit while in other courses entrance test would be taken. He also hinted at the university could be introducing environmental science in B Sc Biology and B Sc Maths. The admission process for all these courses would be completed in July, he added.
