A lizard was found in A mid-day meal supplied by the ISKON trust to a Palwal government school on Monday.
The incident took place at the Government middle school at Lohagarh in Palwal. The school had received a meal of rice and 'chhole' around 8.30am on Monday from the trust which supplies mid-day meals in schools of three blocks of the district.
According to an eyewitness, the lizard was discovered when the utensil containing the cooked rice was opened. The school authorities immediately informed the district administration. The rice has been seized and sent to a laboratory for testing.
The lizard was detected well before the meal was served to the school students. A probe has been ordered into the incident and all mid-day meals delivered in all government schools in the district have been sent back to ISKON.
The city's deputy commissioner Atul Kumar, additional deputy commissioner and other senior education department officers visited the schools in the area to ensure the contaminated food did not reach the children.
"We ordered a fresh batch of food when we came to know about the incident", deputy commissioner, Palwal Atul Kumar said.
Despite repeated attempts, ISKON officials in Palwal could not be reached. However, Kumar said that the ISKON trust has apologized for the incident.
