A decision on parole application filed by former Haryana DGP S P S Rathore is expected next week with the police submitting its report to the Panchkula deputy commissioner.
The Panchkula district administration is likely to convey its decision to the court by next week on the plea of Rathore,
who is lodged in Burail jail here since May 26 for molesting Ruchika Girhotra 20 years ago, officials said here today.
The Panchkula police had submitted its report to Deputy Commissioner Asima Garg after Rathore sought 15 days parole on ground that he had to look after his agricultural land as it
is harvest time.
However, a report from sub-divisional magistrate is awaited, they said.
Meanwhile, the Parkash family, complainants in the case, had sought an audience with the DC tomorrow for a personal
"If Rathore is granted parole we will immediately move the High court against it," Anand Parkash, the father of
Ruchika's friend Aradhana, told PTI here.
"He (Rathore) is a threat to my family and should not be granted parole," Ruchika's father Subhash Girhotra said.
After Rathore was awarded 18-month jail term by a local court, his wife-cum-lawyer Abha had on May 26 filed a revision petition in the High Court.
The arguments from CBI, Ruchika's lawyer and Abha on the revision petition had already been concluded early this
month and the High Court reserved its order on the application moved by Rathore's wife.
14-year-old Ruchika was molested by Rathore, the then Haryana Lawn Tennis Association President, in August 1990.
Three years later Ruchika committed suicide.
