Defence employees to go on indefinite strike

Employees, of DRDO, MES Airfoce Medak Ordnance factory DRDL and RCI Naval Dockyard Vishakapatnam, will go on an indefinite strike from March 1.

More than 10,000 Defence employees, of DRDO, MES Airfoce Medak Ordnance factory DRDL and RCI Naval Dockyard Vishakapatnam, will go on an indefinite strike from March 1, demanding immediate constitution of sixth pay commission and interim relief.

Speaking to presspersons here, GT Gopal Rao, Organising Secretary, All India Defence Employees Federation pointed out that the government had failed to constitute the sixth pay commission from 2003 which was to be implemented from January 1, 2006.

He also demanded merger of 50 per cent DA from July one, 2003 instead of April 1, 2004. They also demanded withdrawal of new contributory pension scheme.
