Delhi placed under high security
Police pickets come up all over Old Delhi in the wake of blasts at Malegaon.
A tight security cordon was thrown on Saturday around crowded places in the national capital, including railway and bus stations, government buildings, cinema halls and market places following the serial blasts at Malegaon, Maharashtra.
"Security has been stepped up at all vital installations and places of worship. Checking has been intensified at all entry and exit points on Delhi's border," said a senior police official.
Armed security personnel have been deployed at all religious places and popular and crowded markets such as Sarojini Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, INA Market in south Delhi and also the walled city area.
Senior crime branch and Central Industrial Security Force officers reviewed security arrangements at all the metro stations.
Police pickets came up all over Old Delhi on Friday evening and vehicles were checked in the wake of the blasts at Malegaon, 300 km from Mumbai, in which 38 people were killed and 190 injured. Police have asked the public to be vigilant and inform them in case they find any suspicious object.
Security forces have been on heightened alert since the US embassy warning on Independence Day eve that religious and economic establishments in both Delhi and Mumbai could be targets for terror groups.
