Delhi raises Sushil’s prize money to Rs. 2 cr

The Delhi government has decided to enhance award announced for London Olympics silver medal winner wrestler Sushil Kumar from Rs. 1 crore to Rs. 2 crore. The proposal was cleared by the Cabinet on Thursday.

The Delhi government has decided to enhance award announced for London Olympics silver medal winner wrestler Sushil Kumar from Rs. 1 crore to Rs. 2 crore. The proposal was cleared by the Cabinet on Thursday.

"We have decided to present an award of Rs. 2 crore to Sushil Kumar. He made the whole country proud and the Cabinet felt we should enhance the award," said Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Dikshit after the meeting.

Kumar, who hails from Delhi, is the first Indian wrestler to get silver in wrestling at the Olympics.

The Cabinet also decided to provide relief to the families of the two victims of the gurdwara attack at Wisconsin, US. Apart from giving R2 lakh to each family, the Cabinet also stamped its approval that the government takes care of the education of the dependents of the victims.
