UPUVM district president Ramesh Kesarwani presided over the meeting while city president Ram Babu Verma conducted the proceedings. Addressing the members, Kesarwani said that oil Mafia sell the oil at reduced rates after mixing it with substandard imported oil and has taken hold of the entire oil business. He said that monopoly of oil Mafia has led to closure of around 2,8000 small and big oil mills across the State and farmers were not able to recover their cost.

Verma in his speech charged the Centre for supporting foreign companies by importing low-grade poisonous and unhealthy palm oil from abroad. He said that the residents were bound to use such poisonous oil available in the market. He said that UPUVM would stage a demonstration at Hazratganj, Lucknow, and submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister on September 18.

UP Udyog Vyapar Sangathan city president Himanshu Kharbanda said that businessmen and traders would burn the effigy of the Centre to lodge their protest against its anti-business policies on September 12.
