The sect chief had earlier been granted interim anticipatory bail pertaining to the case registered in Bathinda in Punjab in May 2007.

The Punjab government submitted before the High Court on Friday that Ram Rahim Singh was no longer required for further investigations in the case.

The case against him related to offending religious sentiments of the Sikhs by wearing a dress similar to 10th Guru Gobind Singh.

The Dera chief had been questioned several times by the police regarding the controversial dress worn by him.

Punjab and several other places in the country were on the boil in May 2007 after the Sikhs violently protested against the sect chief allegedly dressing himself as Guru Gobind Singh.
