Dhoni led the team on Wednesday despite getting a knock while facing paceman Manpreet Gony in the nets the previous afternoon. He said after the match that he did not go for an X-ray as he wanted to play in Mohali, but will now check whether the injury is serious.

“Anyway I will talk to the selectors, now that we have won the series,” he said. The Indian skipper also survived an injury scare before the Ranchi ODI after being struck in the nets by a rising delivery from bowling coach Joe Dawes. He said he might still travel to Dharamsala even if he did not play.

He had his thumb strapped when he came out for the toss in the afternoon.
