EXPRESSING SERIOUS concern over the ongoing ‘war’ between two ministers, the State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today urged Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav to discipline his ministers and check Parliamentary Minister Azam Khan’s habit of making ‘rude and undemocratic’ comments against the governor.

BJP spokesman Dr Surjit Singh Dung said the two ministers—Haji Yaqoob and Azam Khan—were at loggerheads with each other, particularly over their reported influence on the Muslim vote bank, and commented that the chief minister’s silence over the issue was intriguing.

Demanding an open inquiry into Haji Yaqoob’s allegations that Azam Khan had grabbed huge plots of land in Rampur cemetery, Dr Dung said the government should also probe the allegation that Rs 10 lakh which were donated by the people of Meerut to Azam Khan through Haji Yaqoob for the proposed Jauhar University, had been pocketed by certain vested interests.

Dung urged the governor to take strict action against Azam Khan for holding demonstration and showing black flags to him during his Rampur visit.
