Sharma was shifted to the hospital from the city's Central Jail, where he is in judicial custody, after he complained of chest pain.

He is in stable condition and some medical tests are being conducted on him in a special room under police security, Pramod Chapalgaonkar, Civil Surgeon of the hospital, said.

Sharma was arrested in January this year for his alleged involvement in the fake encounter of Ramnarayan Gupta alias Lakhan Bhai, a suspected aide of underworld don Chhota Rajan, on November 11, 2006 in Mumbai.

The former 'encounter specialist' was shifted to the jail here from Thane prison in Mumbai early this month.
