It is ironic that a leader of Jaswant Singh’s stature has claimed, after 10 long years, that there was a mole in PV Narasimha Rao’s PMO passing on strategic information to the US. His assertion that he chose not to divulge this fact so as not to sensationalise it is a serious offence for which he should be prosecuted. He should divulge the person’s name as demanded by the PM.

Hollow statements
The story of Prince who had fallen into a well in Kurukshetra, Haryana, was blown out of proportion by TV news channels. However, there are two important points that no news channel tried to highlight. First, that one responsible for leaving that hole uncovered should be prosecuted. Second, the district administration and the state machinery were ill-prepared to handle such a minor episode, so much so that the army’s help had to be sought. This shows the level of our disaster management preparedness.

The Indian army has displayed courage, planning, humanitarianism and good engineering skills by saving Prince from a narrow 60-feet well. They deserve kudos.

Bad taste
The article Fests without Fizz (July 21) is typical of the mediocrity of vision with which a few in the media still view cinema as a medium for star-gazing, entertainment, commercialism and glamour. That is a reason why Indian cinema flounders, pandering to the lowest common denominator and having a miniscule share in world cinema.
At Osian’s, we see cinema as a great art form, and do not court glamour and hype.
