As per the latest rounds of counting, recorded live by the Election Commission, DMK's Kamalakannan in Vandavasi and Anitha R Radhakrishnan in Thiruchendur are leading by handsome margins.

While Radhakrishnan was leading over his AIADMK rival T Narayanan by more than 35,000 votes, AIADMK candidate at Vandavasi Munusami was trailing DMK's Kamalakannan by over 18,000 votes.

By-polls to the two constituencies on December 19 were necessitated following the demise of DMK MLA S C Jayaraman at Vandavasi and resignation of Radhakrishnan from the post after he quit AIADMK and joined DMK.
