According to the police, Dr Mahasingh had been running his clinic at Manuwas Chowk on Sohna road for the last few years.

On Monday, he was downing the shutters of his clinic when two bikers came and shot him in the chest and stomach.

Mahasingh was taken to a private hospital and later referred to the Gurgaon civil hospital but he succumbed on the way.

On hearing gunshots, nearby shopkeepers rushed towards the clinic.

The accused were trying to escape but their bike did not start so they left it and ran towards the main road where their third accomplice came in a Xylo car and gave them a lift.

Alert villagers blocked the road, caught the three men and handed them over to the Sohna police.

The police allegedly reached the spot an hour later over which the villagers were miffed and took to the streets.

Assistant commisoner of police of the DLF area, Bhupinder Singh, requested the protesters not to block the road and promised to arrest all the accused involved in the case by Tuesday. Angry villagers blocked the Sohna-Palwal Road against police inaction in the morning as well.

They threatened to block the road again if the other accused were not nabbed in two days.

Sohna SHO Anil Kumar said, “We have arrested the victim's friend Krishan and four other accused. A case has been registered.”

The deceased's father, Likhichand, is a retired police inspector.

“I suspect my son's friends Krishan and Sachin are involved. The three friends had opened a clinic together in Tauru village but the venture failed. So, my son opened his own clinic in our village. Krishan fought with Mahasingh several times over the issue,” he said.
