The victim had gone to his clinic for a story on cosmetic surgery.

According to Senior Police Inspector Ajit Sawant, the 20-year-old reporter had gone to Dr Vijay Sharma’s clinic with her cameraman and an assistant for some photographs and material required for her story.

After getting the required material, the cameraman and the assistant left the doctor’s chamber. The reporter too was about to leave the chamber after a handshake, but the doctor suddenly pulled her towards him and allegedly tried to molest her.

“The reporter pushed the doctor aside and tried to run out of the chamber but the he got hold of a sharp object and threatened to malign her image if she spoke about the incident,” said Sawant.

The girl informed her seniors about the incident and a complaint was lodged. Dr Sharma who is the president of the All India Cosmetic Surgeons was arrested for outraging the modesty of a woman and threatening her.

Dr Sharma’s family could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.

Dr Sharma will be produced at Bandra Court on Sunday.

Ganpat Jain, a friend of Dr Sharma, who was at Khar police station said, “Dr Sharma’s family said the doctor was not alone in his chamber when he met the reporter.”
