The threats were issued to executive engineer YK Jain after an LDA team put its own locks on 100 flats in the colony. Even as the exercise was underway, the student leader owing allegiance to the ruling Samajwadi Party called up Jain on his cellphone at 4.22 pm and told him not to touch the flat he has grabbed in the Rupayan block of the Enclave.
“He called me up at least four times. I subsequently informed the LDA vice chairman, secretary and the chief engineer about the incident,” said Jain. When I told this fellow that I was going to lodge an FIR against him, he went straight to the SSP’s residence apparently to preempt the move, he added. “He then rang me up again to say that he was at the SSP’s residence and that he knew that I had informed media-persons about the incident. You are finished if my name appears in the news papers,” said the LDA engineer. Following the threat, Jain, has hired two private security guards at his own expense.
According to Jain, 124 flats in the Enclave were still illegally occupied. “The LDA VC has written to the DM and the SSP for providing requisite police back-up to facilitate eviction drive,” he said. Here it is pertinent to mention that HT Lucknow Live had written about the student leader in question when he along with his band of armed cohorts prevailed upon LDA officials not throw out his belongings during the eviction drive on April 15.
