Doordarshan staffer accuses boss of sexual harassment
A Doordarshan employee has accused her boss of sexual harassment while her superior denied the charges, saying the woman "framed" him for not considering her documentary film for an award.
The woman, a production assistant, filed a police complaint which said an assistant director of DD had made obscene comments and subjected her to sexual harassment for over a year.
She said no action was taken internally on her complaints to DD director general Vijaylaxmi Chhabra.
"We are investigating the matter internally. Until then, I can't comment," Chhabra said.
According to Supreme Court guidelines and the law, complaints of sexual harassment must be probed with an in-house panel that must include an outside expert. The complainant is a member of DD's in-house committee.
She also alleged that she was punished with a transfer to the Central Production Centre office in Hauz Khas from DD's headquarters because of her complaint.
