The bus ran for about 50 metres without a driver, creating panic among commuters as well. It stopped only after colliding with a divider.
According to information, Pranai Veer Singh and Virendra Sharma, residents of Moti Nagar, Unnao, had come to the Kanpur University. They were on their way back home when the speeding DPS bus hit their bike from behind just outside the gate of the university. The bus driver jumped from the speeding bus, leaving it dangerously running on the road without a driver. Constables GK Singh and Digvijay Singh rushed both Singh and Sharma to Hallet hospital where doctors declared Parani Veer Singh as brought dead. Virendra Sharma is still struggling for his life at the hospital.
