ACTOR SURENDRA Pal—who played Dronacharya in the mega serial Mahabharat—was in Lucknow to select a location for his Manisha Koirala-starring Bhojpuri film. The actor, who claimed to have friends across the political lines, was seen with the Union Minister of State for Steel Akhilesh Das during a Press Conference at Hotel Sagar International on Thursday.
Talking to HT Live, the actor said the Bhojpuri film was being developed on a script given to him by the minister.
“Except for Manisha’s selection, all other things are tentative,” he said, adding that the title of the film too was yet to be decided.
Pal stated categorically that he was not affiliated to any political party and most of the politicians were just friends, including Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, general secretary of SP Shivpal Yadav, Akhilesh Das, and many others.
He also had an appointment with the Chief Minister and he said that he was not in town to campaign for the Congress mayoral candidate Manzoor Ahmed as was being misconstrued.
After his impressive role of Dronacharya, Pal is currently seen in popular serials, including Prithviraj Chauhan, Saathi Re…, Who Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki, etc.
Besides, the actor is going to shoot next month for the Hrithik- Aishwarya starrer Jodha Akbar. “It is a Rs 100-crore movie to be directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar of Lagaan fame in Jaipur from November,” he said.
The actor hails from Ghazipur and his maternal house is in Varanasi. He has acted in over 10 Bhojpuri films and a few more are in the offing. “I recently completed a film with Manoj Tiwari,” he claimed.
