Former Spanish international Albert Casas turned a lifeless match into an absorbing contest and helped Chennai Veerans win 1-0 against the Chandigarh Dynamos at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium here on Wednesday.

Twelve minutes into second half, Casas was set up by Somanna inside the striking circle and unleashed a powerful reverse hit that left goalkeeper Baljit Singh rooted and put the Veerans one up. Both teams launched a flurry of attacks thereafter, without success.

The first half was barren, both in terms of shots on the goal and any worthwhile moves by either team.

Result: Chennai Veerans bt Chandigarh Dynamos 1-0.
