The Election Commission is believed to have cleared Union Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh in the office of profit controversy and said that the MP who represents Andhra Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha was not holding an office of profit as a member of the National Advisory Council. The EC is said to have conveyed its opinion to President APJ Abdul Kalam in response to a petition forwarded to it by Rashtrapati Bhavan.
