EC issues notice to BJP on code violation

The BJP candidate allegedly influenced the Mewat Vikas Board in restoring electricity in Tada and Badla villages.

The Election Commission on Friday issued notices to BJP and a few others for alleged violation of the model code of conduct by the BJP candidate in Rajasthan's Deeg assembly constituency where a by-poll is scheduled for May 8.

The BJP candidate allegedly influenced the Mewat Vikas Board in restoring electricity in Tada and Badla villages which "tantamount to influencing the voters", EC sources said.

The Commission also served notices to Chief Secretary, Rajasthan, District Collector of Bharatpur and Chairman of Mewat Vikas Board and sought their explanation by on Saturday.
