EC observer replaced
The EC replaced Arun Dewan, its observer for West Bengal's Mathurapur (SC) Lok Sabha constituency, for allegedly using his security guard's service revolver to fire one round in the air.

The Election Commission on Thursday replaced Arun Dewan, its observer for West Bengal's Mathurapur (SC) Lok Sabha constituency, for allegedly using his security guard's service revolver to fire one round in the air.
Chief Electoral Officer Basudev Bandopadhyay told reporters Dewan, an IRS officer, allegedly took his security guard's service revolver and fired one round in the air at a circuit house at Sagar in South 24-Parganas district on Sunday.
The incident was being investigated and the security guard was suspended, he said.
The CEO said he had sent a detailed report on the incident to the Election Commission.
