EC serves notice on Lalu on model code violation

The notice was issued yesterday in the wake of the chopper flying Prasad landing at the venue of his election meeting instead of the nearest helipad on 7 April

The Election Commission has issued a notice to RJD supremo Lalu Prasad for violating the model code following the landing of his chopper in a school compound instead of a helipad in Garwah in Jharkhand last week.

"The Election Commission has served the notice and asked him (Lalu Prasad) to reply by 4 PM tomorrow," Assistant Chief Electoral Officer, A K Sinha, told PTI here.

The notice was issued yesterday in the wake of the chopper flying Prasad landing at the venue of his election meeting instead of the nearest helipad on April 7.

The Garwah district administration had lodged an FIR on the same day as the landing of the chopper in the school compound was violative of the Model Code of Conduct.
