ECA trials are no cakewalk
For students hoping to get into Delhi University under ECA quota, the real work begins after the submission of forms. Preparing for ECA trials is no cakewalk and with tough competition applicants have to roll out their best. Moreover, qualifying through ECA does not guarantee you the course of your choice, say experts.
“ECA is not the route to get the desired course. One has to be passionate about the activity. The course allocation is secondary in nature,” said Kanika Khandelwal, Media Coordinator, Lady Sri Ram College (LSR). “The percentage
relaxation for ECA students differs from person to person,” Khandelwal said.
However, various colleges give between five and 10 percent relaxation depending on the performance. Some like Sri Venkateswara College get an external jury to judge the trials. But how should one prepare for the trials? Students who have applied for admission through dance (Indian or Western) will be judged on the basis of stage presence, expression, speed etc. “One should be able to feel the music, dancing will come naturally,” said Anukriti Khare, president of Kamla Nehru’s dance society.
For the debates trial, one should be aware of the current issues, should be confident and audible. Drama trials require one to have a good voice, body language and decent acting skills, the topic or the line will be provided by the jury members.
