This inclination towards quality and natural materials, described as a ‘mega trend’ by the German Furniture Industry, is characterised by the use of untreated wood, furniture made from up-cycled wood, cork flooring, wooden bathtubs and even wall decorations made from moss. The products falling under the umbrella of this mega trend also, according to the survey, possess an ‘ultramodern look’ without appearing to be the result of industrial production.

Regarding the natural materials, one of the most popular is expected to be oak, particularly in furniture such as beds and cupboards. The survey also identified several other key trends including a continued preference for saturated or pure colours; the survey predicts that this trend will see widespread use of ‘mono’ colours over the coming season.
