“EICHER SKYLINE Quiz Contest is the only live quiz of this size in the country. It has become more of a mission for us to update students and prepare them for the competitive worlds outside,” said Eicher Motors director (Supply Chain) A K Birla at a press meet here today.
The national semi-finals and grand finale of the much-awaited Eicher Skyline Quiz will be held at Abhay Prashal Indore from 9.00 am on January 20. A K Birla further mentioned that the contest has become a passion for students of more than 5,000 schools across 40 cities of 20 states in the country.
Eicher Motors senior manager (Marketing) Rohit Bhan stated that the quizzing tempo began on July 28, 2005, and has reached the final stage now. He added that the semi-finals and finals would be held on the same day this year. Quizmaster Amiya Pahare said though Indore was the host, the students here need to gain momentum and accuracy to reach the finals of the contest.
Eicher is constantly trying to create a competitive environment in the City through local quizzes and workshops. Amiya Pahare explained that the quiz would contain a mix of old and new rounds like audiovisual, buzzer, rapid fire round, game watch, toon world, fifty-fifty, around the world, news makers, memory markets, reel life, the world next door, Sa re ga ma, mythology round, turant, tak dhina-dhin and limelight rounds. The winners of the quiz will be given a laptop along with other prizes like PC and digital cameras etc.
Eicher Motors general manager (Passenger division) said that apart from the grand quiz the company has developed a Skyline Quiz Circle of Indore schools. Each Skyline chapter comprises 40 students who plan questions, prepare teams and play the role of quizmaster in their respective schools.
Eicher Motors has also launched an on-line quizzing websitewww.eicherskylinequiz.com. The website contains weekly quiz with attractive prizes for students. There are quizzes for adults also. The website has had 10,000 hits within last four-five months.
Company chief executive Rakesh Kalra sends a monthly newsletter ‘Dear Skyliner’ to students of all charter schools. A quarterly quiz book ‘ESQuizite’ is also published, where students themselves contribute questions on a diverse range of topics.
