Director Milan Luthria, whose Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai releases on July 29, has started work on his next film for producer Ekta Kapoor’s Alt Entertainment-Balaji Telefilms. Titled Dirty Picture, the film is inspired by South Indian cinema actress Silk Smitha’s real life story and is expected to go on the floors by December and due to release in the second half of 2011.

Luthria confirms this, but refuses to divulge any details about the cast or the locations till everything is sorted. Vidya Balan had been approached for the lead and is waiting to hear the script. “I can’t say if Vidya will be in my film. You will know soon. All I can say is that Rajat Arora has been working on the script for two years and he has done a fabulous job,” says Kapoor, who wants to recreate the life of the South Indian star who committed suicide. Luthria says that he was drawn to the subject instantly and is really kicked about the project. He is also working on two other projects, with Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi.
