Enjoy the springtime for the soul

We should not brood over the past but instead make the best of the present moment. We should thank God for his benevolence.

Springisa season when the dark nights of winter come to an end. In springtime, flowers bloom and the very air dances in ecstasy.

There is a sweet fragrance all around as if all creation is filled with joy. The season of spring reflects in some way the state of our soul when it unites with God. When we consider Spring from the mystic point of view, we see that it is a time when we yearn for our soul to meet and merge with God - the Eternal Beloved.

To reach the state where we can merge with God, the great mystics and saints tell us to lead an ethical life, which is the first step to spirituality. This means to practice non-violence, humility, purity, truthfulness and compassion in our day to day life in order to bring peace and joy to those around us. We should lead a life that doesn't cause distress to others. The path is charted by the lives of our best gurus.

We should not brood over the past but instead make the best of the present moment.

An ethical life and meditation supplement each other to experience God realization. A virtuous life then becomes a part of our nature. As we commence the season of spring, we should forget the past, as we cannot change that. We have a new beginning and whatever period of time we have left in life, we should make the best use of it.

We should not brood over the past but instead make the best of the present moment and use the opportunity of being born as human beings. We should thank God that he has given us the golden opportunity of being born in a human body. God has been kind to us. We could have been given the body of any one of the 84 lakh forms in creation, but we have been given the body of the crown of creation. We have all it takes to know ourselves, find God within us and enjoy the springtime of the soul. Let's make a new beginning, then, on this Festival of Spring.
