LUCKNOW UNIVERSITY (LU) teachers would organise a ‘march’ on Monday to protest misbehaviour with a teacher in the court complex on April 3. Some lawyers had misbehaved with Dr Malika Saxena and of the LU Department of History. She had been accompanied by her father. At a meeting of LU Women’s Committee, on Saturday, the participants criticized the erring lawyers.

“It has been unanimously decided that teachers would extend all help to Dr Saxena and publicly condemn this incident with the protest march which would be taken out from the campus till the District Magistrate’s residence,” said Prof Chitralekha Verma, the chairperson of the Committee.

Committee members said a memorandum in this connection would be given to the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court, Women’s Commission, president of the Bar Association, DGP and other officials. Committee convenor Dr Sheela Mishra expressed dismay at how such an incident could take place in court premises where citizens go for dispensation of justice.

“Tolerating such a deed by a scholar would set a bad example. We have, therefore, decided to go as far as we can to get justice,” Dr Mishra told mediapersons on Saturday.
