Eve-teasing leads to group clash

INMATES OF Muslim Boarding House and KPUC Hostel clashed near the Urdu Department in the Arts Faculty of Allahabad University on Wednesday.
The fight broke out reportedly over an incident of eve-teasing by a group of boys that was opposed by another group standing near-by. Only the news of the AU Proctor arriving at the scene led to the inmates of both the hostels rushing out of the Union Hall gate hurling abuses at each other.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place when a small group of boys passed comments on a girl passing them near Urdu Department and then tried to follow her.
This was opposed by some students standing near-by and that led to an altercation between them.
Within no time, members of both the groups summoned their friends from the KPUC and Muslim Boarding hostels and it was a free-for-all for some moments.
However, before the matters could get worse, the news of the AU Proctor arriving on the scene along with security personnel led to the trouble-makers making a fast exit from the AU campus.
On being contacted, AU Proctor Prof HN Mishra said, "It was a minor scuffle between two boys and they dispersed within minutes. When I arrived on the scene everything was normal. However, I have instructed the security guards to be on the alert."
